Paul Juarez, PhD

Founding Director, Research Center for Health Equity and the Exposome
Professor, Department of Preventive Medicine
University of Tennessee Health Center
Memphis, TN

Dr. Juarez is nationally recognized for his research in health disparities, particularly in the area of youth violence prevention. His research on the influence of the environmental exposure on health disparities has led to the development and establishment of a new paradigm: the public health exposome. Dr. Juarez has published widely on topics of health equity, cultural competency, AIDS prevention and education. He has served as a consultant for the State of Tennessee and the City of Nashville in developing a Violence Prevention Plan for Nashville Urban Partnership Academic Center of Excellence grant, and established a city-wide coalition to prevent youth violence.
