Description of organization:
The Wisconsin Minority Health Program resides in the Bureau of Health Information and Policy, in the Division of Public Health, in the Department of Health and Family Services. Minority Health was established in 1999 by state legislative action (Sec. 146.185, Wis. Stats.). The program provides technical assistance and oversight of state and local minority health programs and initiatives, recommends distribution of public health resources for minority health, assists in developing policies to eliminate health disparities in Wisconsin and educates and collaborates with government, private, academic, and community groups on current and emerging topics in minority health, health disparities and culturally competent health care.
Description of project:
The Wisconsin Minority Health Program OMH state partnership grant is dedicated to enhancing the infrastructure and improving selected areas of minority health. This proposal focuses on the following activities related to OMH expectations for this partnership program:
- Building program capacity through dedicated minority health staffing,
- Improving coordination, collaboration, and linkages among internal and external partners
- Engaging communities to influence minority health programs and policy and
- Collaboratively identifying top priorities and implementing programs to improve minority health and eliminate health disparities.
