Is my organization responsible for finding the YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow?
No! The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) will leverage its national partnerships to identify and match a Fellow that meets the needs of your organization and the Health Equity Project (e.g. the educational background and experience determined most appropriate). However, if you would like to identify your own YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow, OMH is able to review application packages that include both a project and a proposed Fellow.

If my organization is selected as a Placement Site, are we guaranteed to be matched with a YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow?
No. The YHEMOP Team will do its best to match your organization with a qualified Fellow whose skills meet the requirements of the Health Equity Project and has the ability to relocate to your community (if needed). If the YHEMOP Team is unable to identify a suitable Fellow, the organization may recruit a YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow on their own, but this selected candidate must be approved by the YHEMOP program. The organization may also re-submit a Health Equity Project and application for future cohorts.

Is the organization required to pay the Health Equity Fellow?
No. A stipend will be provided by HHS OMH or one of our recruitment partners as part of the YHEMOP Placement.

How long is the fellowship?
The fellowship runs for 10 weeks from early June through mid-August. Please check the Requirements and Timeline Page for more details on the current cohort timeline.
