Eligible Organizations to Serve as Placement Sites

The YHEMOP is looking for diverse organizations interested in working with YHEMOP Health Equity Fellows, including:

  • Government agencies (federal, state, county, and local)
  • Health care delivery organizations and systems
  • Public health organizations
  • Academic organizations
  • Other institutions that promote health equity and/or address health disparities

The YHEMOP is looking for diverse organizations interested in working with YHEMOP Health Equity Fellows, including:

  • Government agencies
  • Health care delivery organizations and systems
  • Public health organizations
  • Regional Health Equity Councils
  • Academic organizations
  • Other institutions that promote health equity and/or address health disparities

Organization Requirements

To serve as a YHEMOP Placement Site, an organization must provide:

  • A project related to health equity and/or health disparities.
  • A Mentor who will design a realistic and meaningful work plan with the YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow, provide tailored support and project monitoring, and offer professional enrichment opportunities.
  • A designated work station or consistent location for the YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow to complete their placement activities, including tools to complete the work (laptop, badge, etc.).
  • A plan for sustainability, including organizational activities that can build upon the work and/or project deliverables of the YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow once their placement period has ended.

Mentor Requirements

The YHEMOP Mentor plays a large role in ensuring a productive and successful fellowship experience.  Responsibilities of the Mentor include:   

  • Participation in a kick-off meeting with the YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow to review responsibilities and project goals.
  • Engagement with the YHEMOP Health Equity Fellow to monitor project progress, and provide professional development support.
  • Completion of an evaluation to help improve the YHEMOP experience.

Application Assistance

OMH will host two technical assistance webinars for prospective Placement Sites to assist with the application process. These webinars will provide an overview of the program, requirements, and next steps in the application process. Technical assistance webinars are optional and attendance will have no impact on selection. Webinars will take place on:

  • Thursday, November 15th at 2pm ET
  • Wednesday, November 28th at 3pm ET
